"For students to be successful with testing, they must know both content area and academic language vocabulary. To remember a word, research states that students must be exposed to the word from 4-14 times."

  • Information Tip Sheets on Ways to Teach Vocabulary
    Suggestions for engaging students in learning vocabulary and remembering vocabulary words.
  • Vocabulary Websites
    Sites for quizzes, tutorials, other information
  • Power Words
    Content Area key verbs, academic language words, and verbs with phrases, flash card vocabulary words for subject areas, root words.
  • Graphic Organizers
    Various graphic organizers to learn vocabulary words including connections to variations of words.

This session is free to all Clark County Local School Districts and Springfield City Public School educators. All others are welcome to attend for a registration fee of $20.00.

1.5 contact hours of Continuing Education Units is offered to participants who attend this inservice in its entirety, pending approval of the LPDC.
