This project-based learning workshop will provide teachers with model projects and tools to develop and improve project-based learning units of instruction. Teachers will leave this two-day workshop with a project that addresses Key Knowledge and Success Skills and integrates at least four additional “Essential Project-Design Elements” (Buck Institute for Education).
Day 1 of this Professional Development will include model projects, will show teachers what PBL “is” and “isn’t”, will help them cultivate and own the “language” of PBL, and will support their vision what PBL can do for their classroom and school. By the end of the day, teachers will determine which project-based learning unit they will develop on Day 2.
Day 2 will provide teachers with time and tools to develop or enhance their own project-based learning unit of instruction, including tools for writing student-friendly Driving Questions, determining an authentic and meaningful final product, and supporting student critique and collaboration during a project.
