Home Schooling
Member schools districts have chosen to have the Clark County Educational Service Center to manage the Notification of Home Schooling for each school district. The designee who may be reviewing the notification could be a staff member of an educational service center the district has contracted with to perform attendance duties. Still, only the district superintendent may sign the excusal letter sent to the parent.
Our department receives all information from parents wishing to Home School their children, checks to ensure all information is in place, and sends that information to the local school districts to be signed off by their local superintendent.
REQUIREMENTS TO HOME SCHOOL
Parents agree to:
Provide 900 hours of instruction per year;
Notify the superintendent every year; and
Provide an assessment of the students work, this link will provide the O.R.C. requirement.
Many parents think that online schools fall into the category of home schooling, this is NOT true. In Ohio, some online schools are considered community/chartered public schools.
If the online school is out of state and you have to pay tuition, you must register as being enrolled in an out of state school.
